Emily of Snotting Black asked me to guest post on her blog, thereby lowering the property values in the immediate vicinity. So please visit her blog (which is pretty darn fantastic), say kind things, and send large checks. To me, not her. Thanks.

I have missed you (literally and figuratively – you’ve dropped off my reader, AGAIN) plus I had surgery and in my post-anesthesia oxygen-deprived state, I haven’t been smart enough to just go to your blog…

Oh, no! What happened? I hope you are all recovered. I switched from one email carrier to another, and the end result was that I no longer get anyone’s posts. And I have been a total slacker with posting. So, those two things combined have equalled a temporary leavetaking from the blogging world. Which, I must say, feels really good. I needed a break.

I had a hernia repair – and a very bad experience with anesthesia (I wrote about it, of course) and nursing care. I’m getting ready to head back to work next week – so am taking a little mini-break myself…

Hilarious and well-written and perfect. Which I am sure totally makes up for all the money you’re not making.
Money, meh. Who needs it? (Me.)

I’ve declared myself a non-profit. You’ll be getting solicitations for donations any day now.

If I were 23, I would totally listen to/worship you. Because I’m 58/59, I find that I simply APPRECIATE you. And as usual, I love the way you write.

This is what happens with age. We go from worship to appreciate. I think the next stage must be tolerate. xxoo

It’s a really great post Renée. I’d send a check but as it would bounce high enough to reach anyplace on the planet, I’ll spare you the trouble. You have enough to do. You know, I’m 60 and I still believe I’ll beat the system but am just now realizing it is that belief that has served me best. Yup, I really am like that.
I, too, have missed your blog posts.

Don’t ever give up, Karen. I’m still on the hunt for clothes that will make me look like I have cheekbones. It’s the hunt that motivates and excites.

I’ve recently returned from the BlogHer12 conference in NYC, where about 4450 of the 4500 blogger attendees appeared to have been born circa 1989 — i.e., are members of the tender age group you’ve addressed with such insight. As far as I can tell from what little the conference could teach bloggers about actually making money, it appears that the secret is to devote your home page to the retail sale of sex toys. Of course, this may not be a plan that appeals to everyone…..

I find that no matter what kind of cartwheels I do it can’t erase the fact that I’m stuck in the haze of perpetual mediocrity. Even if I land with jazz hands.
So, I was thinking I’d just post photos of my odd looking modified by strange filters on photoshop.

Dog. My odd looking dog. See what I mean about the mediocrity?
