I’m having a huge problem now, and I don’t know how to solve it. Awhile ago, whenever I tried to open an email notification of a person’s latest post on a blog that I follow or notification of someone who liked my post or whose comment had to be moderated, all I got was a blank screen. I know it’s not my computer, because I can open other kinds of emails from WordPress, like comments from people who have commented on my posts in the past.
The “like”s aren’t a problem, because I don’t have to respond to those people (I’m not Sally Field) and I can see the regular comments by going to my blog post. I can see the comments to be moderated by going to my dashboard. But the huge problem is reading new posts from people. Unless their blog name and website are the same, I don’t know how to access them. I used to have links on my homepage, but when I switched to a new theme, the links disappeared.
Now, to make matters worse, a friend told me she no longer is receiving my new posts. I emailed WordPress several days ago, but they seem to be busy doing other things that have nothing to do with me, and so no one responded.
So, the bottom line is that I can’t read new posts from some people and responding to comments demands another step. I’m so frustrated, I simply don’t look at my email.
Has anyone else had this problem in the past or is having this problem now? Has anyone been successful in having WordPress respond? Has anyone out there stopped getting my posts? Of course, I realize that last question is like asking, “Is anyone out there dead?” If you are, you probably won’t hear the question.

I seem to be “in the loop” as well…no problems here, I’m still getting you loud and clear. Hope it clears up soon. I know it’s frustrating and when tech problems crop up I have to tell myself I am not the first, nor will I be the last (doesn’t really help but it calms my BP down a bit).

I’ve heard of others having a problem when they made changes such as theme and while I want to update mine am afraid to for that very reason. I hope so done who can help contacts you!

Last year (or this year-My notion of time is shot) I tried to switch from wordpress.com to wordpress.org. About 60 hours of complete frustration later, most of which consisted of Now Husband Dan’s efforts), I gave up and switched back to .com. Ugh.

Not sure why you’re experiencing the blank pages but I do know that WordPress does reply to help questions — it just takes a week or two. I would email them again with a copy of what you originally sent them so that you’ll be noticed. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. Good luck!

I follow your posts by using the “follow” button…I had a problem with WordPress when I lost all my subscriptions, and they finally did respond, but only after I had already reconstructed my list and resubscribed to everything on my own. I also want to change but not so sure I want to deal with the potential problems. Good luck.

Okay here. I got notification of this post and your prior ones. I hope the problem gets resolved.

I use the follow button to subscribe and yesterday none of my followed blogs showed up on the following page. I did the ask a question about it on the forums. Before I had a chance to try the suggestion from one of the volunteers the list reappeared. \O/
Whenever you have a problem try the forums first…they respond right away, or at least in an hour or so, and are very helpful. 2 weeks for support to get in touch seems like they are “out of touch” with reality.

I think I commented last week here and don’t see it. All my subs got spammed somehow a while back and received no more notifications. First I had to learn they were spammed. My skills are very limited so my computer geek reset. Seems if you change themes a lot of stuff gets erased or changed. That happened to me too.

I seem to be getting all of your material.
A fellow blogger said that somehow all of the comments from her posts started going into the Spam folder recently. Perhaps WordPress are making some changes internally and it’s not going that well…

I’ve had that spam problem in the past. Also, I occasionally have people who comment on my posts on a regular basis whose comments will for some reason fall into the to-be-moderated category.

I have had that happening (have to moderate people who are already approved) since WordPress made changes a few weeks ago. I was having trouble seeing blogs I’m following and now, though it’s hard to find that list and it displays weird (huge pictures, no titles), at least I can usually bring it up. I agree about the forums. Good luck, Renee!

Got your email so I guess that means I’m not dead…I know that when I’ve changed themes before I lost lots of stuff and had to re-add them from the ‘inactive widgets’ lists….they were still there, just didn’t automatically go to my new theme…once I activated them again I was fine…not sure if that could be your problem or not, but thought I’d mention it just in case. Good luck.

Wow, I didn’t realize there was an inactive widgets thingy. At first I thought you were talking about some of my body parts.

YES!! The same thing happened here. I had to look under my ‘following’ tab to catch up on everyone’s blogs. I also tried reverting back to ‘basic’ to read my emails. But now they are working for me, opening up with content. Don’t know if wordpress fixed it, or my switching to basic fixed it. Either way, no, you’re not going loopy 🙂

OK, I’ll take a deep breath and try to find a tab that says “following.”

1. I had the same problem this week.
http://nrhatch.wordpress.com/2011/09/26/houston-we-have-a-problem/
2. As of last night, the problem I had is fixed. I can read “new post” e-mails again. Yay!
3. Until WP fixed the issue, I used the “follow” button ~ click on the little W at the top left of the WP screen. From the drop down menu click “Following.”
4. There is a thread on the Forum where you can talk to MacManx (Happiness Engineer):

I FEEL your pain…I just tend to relate it to my age. Technology is moving faster than I can keep up. I recently opened the new google+ account and started following another blog site, and immediately upon doing it, I felt overwhelmed by having to monitor two more sites. I even noticed when I pick up my iPhone, that there is an undercurrent of dread of having forgotten to respond to something…something I am not sure what!

I am so far behnd the technology curve that I don’t even know there is a curve there. Sometimes I get a notice of someone wanting to connect to me on linkedin and when I click to say OK (in spite of having never actually been on the site) I get a message that says “This email is on a defunct account” (or something like that.

You are coming through to me and I am a newby to your blog. As for WP, I have my issues. I cannot seem to log in. I have written to support and to the forums and I am getting no where. Because of this I moved over to JournalScape. Not as fancy as WordPress but they are user friendly.

I’ve never heard of JournalScape, but now I’m afraid to move anywhere or everything will blow up and it will be the end of the world.

For me, the email is the only thing that is working. Ever since WP changed everything on the admin screens, my blog subscription list (I think they call it Readomatic now) only shows about three of the blogs I follow. I changed it so I get the email notifications now and that’s the only way I know if someone has posted. And, obviously, I got an email saying that you had posted this.
In the past, I’ve actually liked the changes that WP has made. Not this time. It’s all f’ed up, in my humble opinion.
lifeintheboomerlane

I noticed things had changed but I try not to focus too much on anything because my brain will implode. I always assume it’s me and not WP when I can’t make something work.

I experienced the same thing. I loved it when WordPress said it was “browser issues” despite the fact that it was occurring on all the same browsers I’d been using without issue for months.
I’m back to being able to see all the blogs I follow in my subscription list now, but now it’s irrelevant since I too have set all my subscriptions to email delivery. I received this post via email, but now I wonder if perhaps there might be other posts I’ve missed. Hrm.

October 3, 2011
Thanks, Deborah. SO STRANGE: Last night, I started receiving all my emails again. So either it was a huge coincidence that I wrote my post and the problem resolved itself at the same time, or someone at WP actually read my email to them and fixed something in my settings. I’ll never know.

Oh my, I got a lot of responses to this post. I should do another one about my total lack of ability to post videos or do anything with photos other than put one at the top of the post. I am a complete failure. Hey, if you ever read this, go to torinelson.wordpress.com and look at the video she posted today. Tori is a hoot and I looked at the video like 5 times. Because I am a loser.

I’ve not had this particular problem with WordPress, but I’ve had a series of other issues that make me want to scream. Sorry this happened. Sounds like maybe the problem has resolved itself by now. Sorry I’m so damn late getting here. ( By the way, there’s always a place for you at our table, Renee!)
