We will “make” may be an unproductive attitude or just a matter of semantics. Implies domineering. How about provide for, create opportunity for, encourage. Perhaps try several modes of expression in arts to see where an affinity may exist. To dictate, corral, and force may evoke contempt for music or anything if dictated as parental demand. A caring home, wholesome environment with artsy stuff from clay to horns will enable a talent to emerge and as parents that is what we should nurture instead of imposition of parental goals which are hardly ever synonymous with child’s goals. I am sure glad they didn’t mold Franklin Delano Roosevelt into a piano player. Dig?
I’ve been following her blog for awhile, now. I took the use of the word “make” as a burst of enthusiasm after seeing the video. They strike me as great (and flexible) young parents. I’ve seen the other kind, and I do always wonder how those kids turn out. I can guess.
Life in the Boomer Lane: Musings of A Former Hula Hoop Champion
If you can't get enough of Life in the Boomer Lane's humor, or, if your life is tawdry and meaningless, you can purchase many of LBL's posts in Kindle format, for the same price as you would pay for a mojo grande salted caramel skim latte. Or, you can buy the book and the latte as well, and really live it up. Just don't spill the latte all over the Kindle in your exhuberance.
Go to the Kindle section on Amazon and search Life in the Boomer Lane. Your life will change immediately.
